October 27, 2016

Andy Nguyen - One of experienced and truthful local fixer in Vietnam -

6 typical dishes in the South of Vietnam have been introduced by the MeatMen in a show which will be broadcasted on TLC Asia at the end of 2016.

Banh My (Vietnamese Sandwich)

Banh Xeo (Crispy Pancakes)

Bo Cuon La Lot (Betel Leef Wrapped Beef)

Bun Bo Hue (Spicy Beef & Pork Noodle Soup)

Com Tam Suon Nuong (Broken Rice with Grilled Pork Chop)

Goi Cuon (Vietnamese Spring Roll)

The shooting locations are Sai Gon Central Post Office, Cho Lon market and Dragon Fountain which is near Cho Lon market and  Mong walking bridge in the downtown of Ho Chi Minh city. These places are landmarks of Sai Gon and related to daily life of Sai Gon people. Fixer in Vietnam has arranged all permissions to put cooking table, different kind of food boxes, charcoal grill and even LPG tanks in front of Sai Gon Central Post Office to shoot the whole process of making broken rice with grilled pork chop and Vietnamese sandwich.

For the first time ever, a group of reliable Vietnam film fixer has assisted a foreign production company in shooting a food show outdoor at touristy places and landmarks of Ho Chi Minh city. The challenge was setting up many props like cooking tables, LPG tank, soup pots, pans, bowls, knife, plates, vegetables, meat, pork chops, beef bone, shrimp, water...It took three hours to prepare all ingredients for the cooking of each dish.

Fixer in Vietnam has arranged the Vietnam film permit to shoot at Binh Tay market which is traditional market in Sai Gon and related to daily life and not so touristy like Ben Thanh market which is also landmark of Sai Gon

The production of the show is not complicated but the preparation is very detailed and it took time to find suitable shooting locations as well as applying for film permit.

Everyday, the crew has brought dozens of food boxes of different sizes, cooking tables and cooking equipment to shooting locations. It wasted not only energy but also time.

But finally, the crew had happy time together... A time of beer drinks...

Let's watch the show on TLC Asia at the end of 2016. It is a TV show which combines simplification and visualization of food making and travelogue in Ho Chi Minh city in Vietnam.
